Polka Dots and Posie by Teleflora

On the Brant Florist Facebook FanPage, one of our fans left this beautiful statement about flowers. Cathy, you could not have expressed the wonders, beauty, and feelings of flowers better! It was so well stated that I felt it was perfect for the Featured Flower Friday Blog, so without further ado, here is Cathy’s thoughts on flowers:

“Flowers are nature’s gentle whisper telling us our world is filled with love, beauty and joy. They please our senses bringing color to our world, sweet fragrance to our noses and filling our souls with emotions that span the galaxies… from the dandelion picked by a child and given with love to the first dance corsage, the wedding bouquet, the birthday gift, the funeral spray…flowers fill our world and make it complete.”

Polka Dots and Posie by Teleflora
For a treat that can’t be beat, this cheery blend of white daisies and pink roses in a glass cube vase, accented with a pink polka-dot ribbon, is like a gift of pure joy! An adorable gift, for a birthday, a surprise or the perfect way to celebrate so many things.

July’s flower is the Water Lily and Larkspur

Burst of Light Bouquet

Just as there is a specific birthstone for each month, there is also a specific flower of the month that is symbolic to ones birth. July’s birth flower is the Water Lily with the alternate flower being the Larkspur. So basically, July babies have it made and are special with their two flowers.

The Water Lily, (Nymphaeaceae or “water lily family”), is a flowering plant that can be found throughout the world and is the national flower of Bangladesh. The fragrant Water Lilies are generally white in color. Florida has a species all its own that is called the Yellow Water Lily.

The larkspur (Ranunculaceae) is native throughout the Northern Hemisphere and on the high mountains of tropical Africa. Other names are, lark’s heel (Shakespeare), lark’s claw and knight’s spur. The flower has five petals which grow together to form a hollow flower with a spur at the end, which gives the plant its name.

Both the water lily and the larkspur are associated with lightheartedness and levity and evoke feelings of carefree, lightness, and relaxation.

BAMBOO SUNSHINE

I love featured Friday Flower blog because I get to choose from all of the wonderful flower arrangements the one that catches my eye the most at the moment. It is kind of like sending myself flowers every Friday and sharing them with you all. Today I chose the Bamboo Sunshine for one huge reason – we have had nothing but rain for the past few weeks and I was hoping that by choosing the Bamboo Sunshine arrangement it would bring me a little good luck. (I’ll let you know how it worked next week ;-)

The Bamboo Sunshine Arrangement displays three sunny orange gerbera flowers delivered in a stylish contemporary cube vase made of real bamboo or clear glass. The florist uses a glass cube if the bamboo is not available. Should orange gerbera not be available, the florist will use the next best color, but you can rest assured it will be the best of the lot and look fantastic! So here is praying that a little Bamboo Sunshine brings tons of sunny sunrays my way and yours too! Have a great weekend!

Planning a Event accented with Flowers

Thoughtful Lily Bouquet

The great thing about Brant Florist is you can count on delivery when you need it. If you are planning an event and want to decorate with flowers but are on a budget, rather than order pre-arranged flowers, you can order fresh cut flowers and create your own flower arrangements. You can count on Brant Florist to get you the fresh flowers you need on time.

Once you receive your flowers here are some tips to get you started in making simple arrangements that will please everyone.

Vase proportion to flowers: Bubble bowls, cube vases, and shorter vases require shorter cut flowers. Tall slender vase require longer flowers, like gladiola or veronica’s. Vase should be 1/3 of floral arrangement height, or if using short vases, 50% of the height.

Cut flowers to height gradually: You can always cut off more if need be but you can’t add. Cut stems at an angle and make sure to submerge in water immediately, or better yet, cut under running water and submerge immediately in vase.

Float flowers for a quick floral arrangement: If using short wide mouth vases, simply cut the stems short and “float the flower(s) in the vase. The great thing about this is, if you do not have many matching vases, you can easily use dessert dishes, sundae dishes, etc that you do have a set of and have a nice flow with your flowers! This works especially well if you are entertaining on long rectangular tables as you can space them centered through out the length of the table. Use a table runner down the center first on top of your tablecloth to even give it a fancier appeal.

Color Scheme: The great thing about Brant Florist is you can order cut flowers in any color scheme you choose. This keeps unity throughout your décor and give a great impact to your guest.

Don’t be afraid of color: Feel free to mix colors to give added dimension. It can be a great way of adding drama to your décor.

Play around and have fun with it: Your floral arrangements will express who you are as a person, and that is the most important aspect of any event you are throwing. The great thing about flowers is – no matter what, they will always look beautiful!

Raspberry Patch Arrangement

Although the lilac season has past, the Raspberry Patch Arrangement caught my eye and I had to share it. I adore lilacs and love the smell of them. It is one of the first blooms of a new flowering season. I seen recently where they have genetically created a lilac bush that re-blooms throughout the spring and summer season – something I am seriously considering getting for my yard. When you browse the BrantFlorist website, while looking at all the flowers, do any catch your eye, make you reminisce, dream, have fond thoughts? The Raspberry Patch Arrangement brings all the touches of Spring in one flower arrangement with its pastel pink tulips, combined with lovely and fragrant lavender lilacs. It is breath taking and the perfect flower arrangement to send to anyone who savors that first glorious glimpse of blossoms in the garden

Flowers to a lover make a great present standing alone or to improve a present. Had you added flowers to that gift, not only would you improved the gift, you would have added more meaning to it. Flowers speak volumes even if a card is not present. They enrich a the worth of a gift with meaning and actually heart. Even if your gift is high dollar, by adding flowers, it delivers even a deeper more heartfelt message.
