April’s Birth Flower is the Daisy
The official birth month for daisies is April. There is a saying that goes “Spring has not arrived until a person has set foot on 12 daisies.”
There are various different types of daisies include the African daisy, Painted daisy, Gerber daisy, and Michaelmas daisies.
The Gerber daisies, discovered by Robert Jameson in 1884, are said to represent beauty, cheerfulness, innocence, and purity. Gerbera daisies are the third most popular florist blooms.
Gerbera Daisies are an especially bright and long lasting version of these popular flowers with their vibrant reds, yellows, pinks, and oranges. It is hard for anyone not to break a smile when looking at beautiful Gerbera Daisies.
Daisies are all about friendship. They exude happiness and are the perfect choice for those looking to lift spirits or convey appreciation. Did you know that in public, the giving of a daisy from one person to the next can sometimes represent the passing of a secret because daisies represent truth in all forms.
The daisy flowers overall symbolizes innocence, a loyal love and gentleness.
Happy Birthday to all you April Daisy babies from Brant Florist!
If you are anything like me, you have had your fill of winter. When I have days like this my mind drifts off to daisies. Daisies make me think of warm summer breezes, sunshine, and life. So today I wanted to bring a little warmth to everyone with just a few poetry clips and qoutes on daisies. I hope it brings you the warmth it does me. And if not, take it a step further and order some daisies to be delivered to your door from Brant Florist and bring a little summer into your life a little early.
“There is a flower, a little flower
With silver crest and golden eye,
That welcomes every changing hour,
And weathers every sky.”
James Montgomery, A Field Flower
“The Rose has but a Summer reign,
The daisy never dies.”
James Montgomery, The Daisy–On Finding One in Bloom on Christmas Day
“Bright flowers, whose home is everywhere
Bold in maternal nature’s care
And all the long year through the heir
Of joy and sorrow,
Methinks that there abides in thee
Some concord with humanity,
Given to no other flower I see
The forest through.”
William Wordsworth, To the Daisy
“The daisy’s for simplicity and unaffected air.”
