When you buy a home, you do so with dreams. Maybe your dream was to renovate your yard, but somewhere along the way you were derailed. Have no fear because help is here! This article will give you some simple strategies to help you to tackle your problems and renew your landscape. (And you thought we were only interested in cut flowers!)

Plan out what time of the year you are going to buy your supplies in order to save money. For example, lumber does not cost as much in the winter as it does in the summer. You can also find better deals on trees, soil and perennials later in the season when not as many people are buying them.

Design your landscape with distinctive seasons in mind. Choose plants that bloom at different times of the year so that different parts of your landscape are always in bloom. This keeps your landscape fresh and interesting and ensures that it won’t be completely dead during certain times of the year.

Check out all the available sources for the landscape products you plan on buying before actually making your purchase. Online vendors often offer discount coupons that can help you save a substantial amount of money. Your local arboretum, or botanical garden may also hold a local plant sale, or swap.

Invest in fresh mulch each spring. It is going to look cleaner, and will add a good bit of curb appeal to your home. Keeping fresh mulch around your flower beds will slow the weed growth. If you live in an area where termites are a problem, consider using pine needles, bark, or pea gravel instead.

Your dreams can come true, if you use what you’ve read here and start working on your yard today. The most simple of idea can have a huge impact, so start small and build up as you go. Every minute you put into it will show in the final result, so dedicate yourself to change and you’ll be pleasantly surprised in the end.

*TIP* for instant interior gardening … just add potted plants!

If you are planning a wedding in the near future, you may want to incorporate the advice of this article, to get the wedding just right. There are themes, speeches, and even professional services that could be needed and you want to be sure to have the whole day planned perfectly.

If you are planning a wedding reception on a budget, consider asking the local culinary school for help. Culinary schools will often provide a meal for your reception for just the cost of food. This gives their students valuable training, and provides you with a catered meal at a significantly reduced cost.

Unless you are throwing a gala event, keep the guest list realistic and keep it small. Invite the most important people in your life first; family and close friends. Do not branch out much further than this and it will keep your wedding intimate and make sure that you have time to socialize with everyone you invite. Too many guests will keep you running trying to acknowledge them all!

For your first song as a couple, use something that is not only popular but has a lot of meaning for you and the person that you love. Play the first song you ever danced to or a song that reminds you of that person to make the best of this moment.

Try to arrange transportation from the airport to the hotel or resort for guests arriving for your destination wedding. At worst, have your guests meet up and form groups so they can share the limo or cab costs. It’s already costing them a lot to be there – try to help them as much as possible!

If you use the advice found in this article, you could easily find yourself planning a great wedding that is fail-proof. Sure, there is anxiety associated with any wedding, but you could put it all to rest with these tips in mind, as you set forth in planning the perfect wedding.

PS. Don’t forget to order your Wedding Flowers in advance to avoid any surprises on the day. Remember, a great local florist will work with you to help make your day perfect.

Most people make choosing the right gift too hard – which leads to a lot of stress and bad gifts. You don’t want to purchase something that will get thrown out the next day and you don’t want to get a gift that they expect. Plus, after you decide on the gift, you still have to deal with actually going out and purchasing it. However, if you follow theses three simple steps it does not have to be a difficult task at all.

Check out these FTD Valentine Day Bouquets

1. What are their interests? You have to think about what they like before you can get much further in this process. You do not have to get them a gift that is directly related to their interests, but you need to have a general feel of what they like to do in order to get the best Valentine’s Day gift for them. If you have been seeing that special someone for a while then you should probably know a few of their hobbies or special interests. Use these to your advantage.

2. Translate their interests into a Valentine’s theme – this is the part where you can really get creative. After you have nailed down what their interests are, then you need to apply this to some type of Valentine’s theme. Here are a few Valentine’s themes to consider – soft things, edible things and expensive things. Take one of their interests, playing soccer for example, and apply this to edible things. Voila – you could buy them chocolates in the shape of soccer balls. Do they enjoy music? Apply this to the expensive things theme and get them a bracelet with a music note on it. Do they love a certain television show? Based on the theme of soft things you could get them a plush animal dressed up as their favourite character.

3. Research and find it – this is where a lot of us let ourselves down. We decide on the perfect gift but have no idea where to find it. In my opinion, the best place to find the best Valentine’s Day gift is online. On the Internet you have an endless amount of possibilities to choose from. Plus, if you cannot find the specific gift you’re looking for, then you will certainly be able to find a few different items that you can put together to create it yourself.

See? Gift giving doesn’t need to be difficult at all. Simply follow these 3 simple steps and you’ll enjoy Valentine’s Day once more.

Hello and welcome to the May edition of the Florister! Last month I quoted Ralph Waldo Emerson so in keeping with something literary, here’s a poem that sums up where we are right now: half way between winter and summer:

The sun was warm but the wind was chill.
You know how it is with an April day
When the sun is out and the wind is still,
You’re one month on in the middle of May.
But if you so much as dare to speak,
A cloud comes over the sunlit arch,
A wind comes off a frozen peak,
And you’re two months back in the middle of March.

~ Robert Frost (1874–1963)

This month includes the day that lets us … [Click here to read the full newsletter]

Welcome to the March edition of the Florister. I’ve had a few people ask about the origins of the birth flowers, well if the history books are correct, we can thank the Romans. It is believed birthday celebrations originated in the Roman Empire and the origins of birth month flowers could be said to date back to these times.

The birthday celebrations included honouring the Roman Gods and decorating their altars with flowers. During Roman birthday celebrations family and friends offered congratulations and brought gifts. The gifts included flowers – the first traditions and origins of Birth Month Flowers. Who knew?
